I need advice and suggestions regarding a few Kingdom-building hindrances.
What are some suggestions on BP costs for things not listed in Jacobs' article in Rivers Run Red?
-A River-Boat shipyard,
-A Military Academy & Castle (2-in-1),
-A Canal (connecting the 15 miles between Silverstep Lake & the Little Sellen,
-A Riverboat that can go upstream (westbound against the Gudrin if the Canal is too expensive and/or westbound against the Lower Shrike after the Little Sellen meets it and begins to flow South at the Abandoned Ferry,
-A temporary HQ, not as cool as a Castle but something maybe a bit more than merely a Barracks -- where the PC-general or Akiros Ismort can lead until the Kingdom can afford its Castle,
(Finally, what are some other things other Groups have built not listed in Jacobs' article?)
Where can the PCs find good NPCs to take the jobs of General, Marshal, Treasurer, etc., etc. if they're more content with being mobile PCs, adventuring and making the Kingdom safe (not unlike the image of King Richard in the 1180s: he's out fighting like a public "hero" while NPCs are running things back home)? The current NPCs ordered by loyalty & desire:
Akiros Ismort
Jhod (The new Stag Lord as he now wears the Stag Helm)
Oleg
Topper Red
Kesten Garess
Sootscale the Kobold King (The PCs are more LE than LN)
Ayles
Dovan of Nisroch (Did I mention the PCs are more LE than anything else?)
(I don't really wanna make up NPCs -- I'm thinking about trying to find some in the articles on Restov & Pitax in the AP but it looks like there's gonna be slim pickings.)
How much BP does the Gold mine, Silver mine, Gem field & Iron mine bring in each month???!!!!
. . . .
Some info on this Campaign:
It's a solo Campaign; the PC is LE (with strong LN)
The PC is a gestalt modified Ranger/Scout & modified Druid
The PC has a "cadre" of Awakened lionesses (stats of strong Dire Lions) that I can have near him for multiple-monster encounters and off hunting when I want him alone.

In my campaign, any time the players wanted to build something not on the list I chose something that was on the list and renamed/re-skinned it. So simply decide what effects you'd like the new thing to have, and choose something with the same effects to set the price.
For example, a two-square building that provides +2 to two stats is basically a Theatre, so charge 24 BP for it. (If you feel it should get a discount for lacking the "halves cost of X, X, and X in the same city" then only charge 20 BP for it.)

Economy Boost, huh? You can tell I don't get to spend as much time as I need reading over the AP before each session, yes? Real life keeps us from gaming 24/7 afterall.

Yeah, that's what I've done so far, made an estimated guess as to what something would cost based on lik-buildings on the list.
But the canal is totally throwing me for a loop.
BTW, you probably know but Bigrin is a Frost Giant, not a Troll (not that it matters).

The rules I added for Canals are:
A Canal may be built in any hex adjacent to a water source (lake, river, existing Canal) and counts against the limit of roads built per month. A Canal counts as a navigable river. Any City District (even multiple City Districts) in a hex with a Canal may have one water border. The cost of building a Canal varies by terrain:
2 BP Clear
4 BP Forest
6 BP Hills, Swamp
8 BP Mountain
Biggrin was a frost giant, but Bigrin is, was, and ever shall be, a troll. #:-]
