I received a couple of boons at Pacificon recently that mention a term that I can find no definition for. I am hoping that you can help me so that I can use the boons I earned.
'You gain a +1 attack bonus to attack rolls against creatures of the giant subtype and either become specialized in Survival or learn the Shoanti for free'
'You gain a +1 bonus on saving throws against writing-based traps, spells and abiliaties (including glyphs, runes, sigils and sybols), and you become specialized in Liguistics
As you can see both of these use 'specialized' a term I cannot find anywhere.

So far as I can tell the term comes from the Pathfinder Society Field Guide, the full text for what it does can be found in that book, but it does as TriOmegaZero mentioned, with one further bit of info to mention, if the skill becomes a class skill after gaining specialization from another source, you gain the +1 competence bonus instead, that is if you multiclass into rogue after becoming specialized in linguistics you'd get the +1 bonus rather then it being a class skill (I state this because the use of the word already).

Perfect thank you it is indeed in the field guide, I looked in several books but not that one (blame my blondeness). Appreciate the help.

Many of the prestige awards and recognitions or resources that faction members purchase allow a character to become specialized in a skill. When a PC becomes specialized in a skill, that skill immediately becomes a class skill for her. If the PC gains that skill as a class skill from any other source (either before or after you purchase the prestige resource), she gains a +1 competence bonus on those skill checks.
