Is it worth it?

Grand Lodge

My DM has allowed an old 3.0/3.5 weapon to be used, and as the only weapon that deals unarmed strike damage in Pathfinder, is the unarmed strike, I am interested in it.
Here it is:

Battle Gauntlet:

Battle Gauntlet:
This thick band of metal covers the forearm and part of the hand.
Like gauntlets that come with armor, battle gauntlets allow the wearer to make unarmed strikes as if he were armed, dealing damage as an unarmed strike.
They can be fitted with spikes or blades (making them function as spiked gauntlets or claw bracers).
Because a battle gauntlet covers the hand and the entire forearm, the wearer cannot wear any other magical gauntlet on that arm (or items that use the wrist slot space on the body) while wearing battle gauntlets.

Battle gauntlet 10 gp 4 lb.

Now, this is for my Inquisitor/Monk build, seen here, and the idea of a slightly more efficient way of enchanting my unarmed strikes seems nice.
The drawback of losing my wrist slot seems harsh.

So, I ask:

Is it worth it?

Since you will be attacking quite a lot vs whatever else you might be using your wrist slot for, it seems like your GM is being pretty cool.

I'd go for it and enchant as any other character would their weapon. Those bonuses start to add up and will add to your ability to effectively function at higher levels.

Are not Bracers of Armor wrist slot items?

That may hurt my future AC.

Grand Lodge

No they aren't wrist items. But you can kiss the thought of gloves goodbye. Bracers by the way are ARM items.

Could these do double duty, like enchanting the spiked shield as both a weapon and armour?

So you could have a battle gauntlet +2 (as a weapon) and +2 armour (like bracers?)

Grand Lodge

I suppose. There would be the x1.5 cost of adding the ability to act like bracers of armor.

I know I am getting some leeway here, and not looking to piss off my DM.

Gauntlets do generally seem to be glove slot tho. Is he counting them as both for the added benefit you are getting?

in which case maybe he'll let you double up as suggested by karg

Grand Lodge

Basically, I cannot use other magic gauntlets(the weapon kind) and it eats up my wrist slot.

It's always worth asking. The x1.5 to ad dthe ability is a good trade off IMO. They are eating two slots, not just one.

Also IMO, if he gets pissed off because of a question/request (not a demand), you might want to reconsider being a player anyway.

You could also get dangeroudly curious, UMD a wand of mage armour and ask your cleric friend to magic vestment you (1 hr/level)

Oh, a wand of sield probably wouldn't hurt either, but that would be short term buffing.

Did I miss something here? Bracers of Armor sure ARE wrist slot items! What is this nonexistent ARM slot you speak of?

Per RAW, there are HAND and WRIST slots, but no ARM slots.

Grand Lodge

Yeah, I know that.

I also double checked, Bracer of Armor are wrist slot items.

I will still have access to hand slot items.

My thread got moved.
