Missed you at Stillcon. I understand with the way things are nowadays.

Silver Crusade

Found it on Youtube.

Liberty's Edge

Imagine camping in the Katapesh area and finding a half buried person.

Interesting...

I just found what's touted to be a free 30 minute prequel to it on Fearnet, called "Blood-red Earth." I suppose I'll check it out and report back.

I wonder what they are.

Well, the prequel was intriguing. I've come to the following conclusions about whatever "they" are:

Spoiler:
They're obviously predatory; they hunt in packs; their claws are poisonous and cause rapid paralysis; they're nocturnal, probably because of light-sensitivity; they keep their paralyzed prey half-buried in the earth and hidden by grass; and finally, they show some signs of intelligence...when the two native boys take their deer, they track them to their village and take one of the boys as compensation.

Spoiler:
Kinda like sentient, intelligent, non-undead ghouls? either way, must...steal...for...homebrew...

Trailer looks good, I'd see this, combines my favorite genre (Westerns) with my gf's favorite (Horror), so there's something for both of us!

Yeah, kind of. When I saw the trailer, the first thing I thought of were those FR creatures that were dwarves before the Zhentarim twisted them with magic into burrowing assassins.

In any event, I think you're right; there's definitely an adventure brewing in it.

Werebadgers? We don't need no stinking werebadgers!

Spoiler:
I love being able to reference two movies in the same line ;)

Are there any other western/horror movies?

Ravenous, and that's about it for good ones, the rest are campy.

Liberty's Edge

It seems like such a cool genre; too bad there's not more.

Cowboys vs. underground monsters? Sounds familiar. :-)

Well, I finally got around to seeing this. I have to say I really like the Western feel they gave the movie. It felt authentic and they took the time to really set the atmosphere, unlike the campy sequel David mentions. Overall, a fairly well done movie. One of the best things is the slow building of tension they do. It's not a slasher/gore flick or a roller coaster ride. The atmosphere maintains a really creepy vibe throughout. The ending is a bit disappointing, but otherwise its a decent horror movie and well worth a viewing. I think its still a free offering on Fearnet at the moment.

Oh, and the burrowers themselves? Definitely worth statting up as a monster. =)
