How many encounters are in a standard Adventure Path?

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

I'm writing up my own Adventure Path for our group, and would like to know how many encounters you think is fair (and fun!) per module book, as both players and DM's.

What's your ideal breakdown of encounter types? 3 battles and 2 exploration encounters? 1 Investigation, 4 battles? Lets hear your favorite set ups!

Writing a home adventure(something for your buddies) is a lot easier than writing something you have to be able to sell to everyone. It requires a lot more writing, probably more writing than you need to do, and I would probably do a lot less, unless you are practicing.

With that said there is not a set formula. As an example Carrion Crown seems to have more of a use for knowledge checks and diplomacy skills. Other adventures will have you fight more. I would not worry about a ratio. Just do what makes sense for the adventure.

The answer, as always, is 42. :)
