Mythic One / Two Shot

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm (vaguely) planning on running a one or two shot mythic adventure once the beta begins. Rather than wait until then though, I'm trying to get some ideas together for the adventure itself (since I don't think that'll depend too much on the rules details).

I don't have any mythic ideas of my own though, so I'm planning on stealing the plot from an anime. Then the question is what anime would make for a good (and fun) test of the mythic rules? My current best idea would be Yuu Yuu Hakusho (roughly the second plot arc, which means the players all start dead :) ).

Anyone else have any ideas for short mythic adventures?

While I don't know Yuu Yuu Hakusho, I do have a good short idea.

A fledgling deity needs protection while he completes the final part of his journey to ascension.

Yuu Yuu Hakusho:
The story begins with a jerk, school bully Yuusuke. On his way home from a really bad day at school, he sacrifices himself to save a kid from getting run over by a car. The grim reaper shows up and tells him that there's no place in the afterlife for him since his death was completely out of character. Instead she (the grim reaper) offers him a chance at life if he'll work for her (well, her boss).

The first arc is about getting his spirit back in his body, which means they need to prevent his body from being burried.

The second arc is about his first few assignments as spirit detective, hunting down escaped spirits. At this point, he isn't very powerful and can only use his abilities a couple times per day.

But if in the second arc he isn't very poweful, how are you making this into a Mythic status adventure?

Are the characters going to be helping someone who is a spirit detective or are they going to be the spirit chasing, haunt bashing detectives?

If so, you could always create a wonderfully haunted tower filled with the world's toughest spirits and spooks...

Though let me read/watch the anime and I'll get back to you.

They'll be the detectives. Remember, the Mythic Adventures is set up to allow you to gain mythic levels starting at character level 2, and this is the best I've been able to come up with for a low-level, one-shot mythic adventure. (Most anime seems higher level than that.)

Ah that was my question, you plan on using the Mythic Rules as soon as 2nd level.

And actually, I believe I missed this information. I shall certainly have to dig up the Mythic Adventures posts and read up on this.

As a one-shot, this sounds like a fantastic idea. There are plenty of good haunts and ghostly opponents out there too!

Throw in demonic beings and you have... yeah I will shut up before I give a spoiler...

So does anyone else have any suggestions for places to steal fairly low-level mythic adventures from? (I made a huge list in one of the other threads, but I think most of them would be higher level.)

Has anyone else begun planning their own mythic adventures?

Once I manage to learn more on Mythic Adventures you will probably see me making some.

I have always wanted to run a campaign based on Kenshin... though Himura Kenshin feels like a Gestalt Samurai/Monk...

Hmm... I can think of a lot of ideas... but I will be quiet til I can find out more on Mythic Adventures.
