Hey,

I'm running a PBEM version of the AP and have decided to have each character (5) be influenced by the 'Five Prisoners' through nightmares. The game started about a month ago but here are the first two. Feel free to take as needed, just make sure to change the PC names.

------------
Lyr’s Dream

It was dark as Lyr entered the smith’s shop; her sword needed maintenance. Her call eerily echoed back to her but being so late at night meant the dwarven smith was, of course, not there. Yet Lyr continued to yell out his name in this surreal dream environment. The dwarf appeared, literally rising from the floor in front of Lyr--only it wasn’t the dwarven smith and there was something odd about this dwarf. Feeling undeniably afraid but not quite knowing of what, Lyr presented her sword. The dwarf smiled and signaled towards his anvil, silently telling the girl she should put the sword on it. The smith smiled like a predator smiled to a helpless prey. Tears ran down Lyr’s face as her fear turned to terror. She sheathed her sword and placed her head on the anvil!

The hammer came down; the cracking of bone was loud in Lyr’s ears as a skull shard flew from her head. Lyr brought both her hands up to her head to try and keep it from splitting but it wasn’t working. Blood soaked through her fingers and she started screaming. But she knew that if she found the skull shard that was missing, she could piece her head back together and be fine. She knelt on the shop’s floor but there were bone shards everywhere. And the more she looked, the more she bled and the more her head hurt. She picked one bone fragment after another but none would fit her cranium. After what seemed like a few minutes, she bumped into the dwarven smith who was also looking for her missing skull shard; he was no longer laughing but seemed genuinely remorse. The dwarf was wailing in despair, not knowing what to do as shard after shard just didn’t complete Lyr’s skull. Desperate and not knowing what to do, she sat down on the floor amidst the skull fragments, sobbing, and waiting for her life to end.

It was then that she woke up.

Wandesii’s Dream

After a rough start trying to decide whether to cover herself up completely and sweat under the sheets or remain exposed to the somewhat cool breeze coming from the window and the accompanying summer mosquitos, Wandesii managed to get some sleep. And she dreamt, she dreamt of blue butterflies and a wonderful picnic outdoors...

It must have been late fall or early spring because the sun was shining but the temperature was pleasantly warm. The halfling was alone, sitting on the grass and eating lunch from her basket overflowing with fruits and sweet pastries. The smell of wildflowers dominated her senses and butterflies, her favorite blue kind, fluttered about. Music, a light melody played on flute, started from behind her. She turned about to see who the piper was but could not find him; no matter how she turned the music always came from behind her. The blue butterflies started dancing to the airy beat, well-choreographed following the rhythm.

The sky darkened and the music decidedly changed its pitch and tone, from a light airy tune to eerie sounds reminiscing of dark places; a chill went up Wandesii’s back. Fear gripped her but she did not why. She took a bite of her cream-filled pastry and again turned to discern where the music was coming from. The sweet bread tasted sour in her mouth and she suddenly found it hard to breathe. The blue butterflies had morphed and twisted and now looked like overgrown mosquitos, their abdomens bursting with blood. Wandesii could no longer walk; she fell backwards and could only stare as the stirges hovered to the spooky melody and softly landed on her body. Each would take its time to insert its needle-like appendage and the halfling only watched as her own blood filled the insectoid’s already bloated abdomen. The stirges left red welts on her body and flew off once their abdomens seemed ready to burst with blood, only to be replaced by other insectoids waiting their turn, waiting and dancing. The halfling grew weaker and was on the verge of passing out, but the creepy melody somehow kept her awake; awake only to see her life blood continue to feed the numerous stirges who danced and fed.

Beth slapped another mosquito from her body, definitely not a good night’s sleep. She awoke curious to see how the others were coping with the problem. She saw that Lyr apparently didn’t mind sweating or minded sweating less than the mosquitos for she had covered herself up completely. She looked over at the halfling and saw her sheets on the floor and Wandesii awake on her back, seemingly staring out in space. Beth rubbed her eyes and sat up on her bed; something wasn’t quite right. The rogue saw that Wandesii’s body was covered in red welts and dozen or so mosquitos buzzed about her but the halfling didn’t seem to mind. Beth started to worry when her call was unanswered. She got up, went over, and, when her calls continued to be ignored, violently shook the halfling awake.

It was then that Wandesii woke from her nightmare; her shrill scream woke up Lyr and probably the rest of the people of the house.

Thanks! let me know if you want me to post the other nightmares.

BTW, did you get a chance to read any of the turns (or other stuff) for the game posted on the website? I'm just curious to see if any of that is interesting to people who are not playing the game.
