My wife and I invested in this (Sting of Lolth and Heart of Cormyr)
All in all, pretty fun actually. Just fine with this replacing the old D&D minis to be honest with a lot of the rules more simplified and giving way to more tactics. I like Heart of Cormyr creatures a lot more than the Lolth ones surprisingly. I love elves most but the Heart of Cormyr ones are lacking. Still, they get some power houses (looking at you Purple Dragon Knight).
It feels like the way the drow keeps up at all is with their order cards but sometimes even that can be rough to me. All in all though it's a blast. I'd recommend giving this a look if you aren't one of the ones boycotting WotC.

I just picked up these two sets as well and I really like the game. The creature mix and order cards in each set definitely have distinct flavors. It's easy to pick up and get playing and we haven't had too many times where we needed to review a rule. The paints on the minis are at least as good as any of the previous DDM releases.
I'm still learning what works well for strategies. I think the game has a fair amount of depth. I think once the next few sets are out, it'll be fun making mixed warbands with custom order decks and creature mixes. So far I won the first game I played with just the Cormyr set where we split it in two and I lost the second two games where I played as the drow each time - but I felt I did better the second game. The drow priestess is becoming my favorite mini in that set. If you can get the WIS card that lets you draw two order cards each round instead of one that really helps. Also, if you deploy her early and move her out a bit, she can deploy spiders anywhere within five squares of her instead of having to start them all way back on your start tile.
I like that each box also includes some cards to use these minis with the adventure system games.

I agree that its showing a surprising amount of depth and strategy for a diceless game. The mix of Magic the Gathering with D&D minis is something I'm enjoying a lot. I don't even miss the D20 role for what this is. Digging the drow except I get envious of Cormyr's heavy hitters. You've got 4 cards on their end that hit for 30 (or more with the purple dragon) while only t he umber hits for 30 on team drow while everyone else is 20 or lower. We get speed but I'm not sure yet how much that matters when they get up on you and trap you to 1 square.
Glad to see someone else enjoying it and I agree about looking forward to making custom armies.

The shift effect of the Drider and other spiders allows some greater flexibility in close combat. Also, the Umber Hulks ability to pick and enemy and shift him out in the open, so you can gang up is a nice feature. I just ordered some extra order cards and minis from the set individually through Auggie's. This will allow more customization of the Orders deck and variety on the battle field. It is too bad WotC isn't looking at a line of boosters for this game, like in the old DDM days. This may be a much better game than the old DDM skirmish game.
Cheers,

For now I'm fine with there NOT being boosters. It's a good way, so far, to keep the prices of some figures from getting too obscene if everyone has relative easy access to them.
Drider is very fast but if it stops its turn next to an opponent then it's next turn it's movement speed is STILL one. That hurts from doing some crazy hit and run tactics without an order card to back it up.

Maybe we are misplaying the rule, but as I understand the "shift" ability of spiders, it negates the one movement speed when adjacent to an enemy.

Yea I thought the same thing.
Sadly the rules were clarified by the powers that be that if it stops next to an enemy, their speed is set to 1. For whatever its worth its a SHIFT speed of 1, but 1 all the same. So what its apparently really useful for is just to run past enemies to get to the back line to harrass that god forsaken War Wizard that won't stop BLOWING ME UP!!
