Being that Dragonlance was my first introduction to fantasy, I have always had this fascination with wizards being these tight conclaves of highly regulated casters with "towers of high sorcery" or other such structures that defy space and time.
So I want to make a wizard school that exists in its own pocket dimension, and I want people to throw ideas at me as to what it would be like having a school in a pocket dimension.
What would the experience be like, do you think?
What threats would the school face that are abnormal when compared to a school in "normal" space?

As a fellow Dragonlance fan, I need to point out something.
The Towers of High Sorcery did not exist in other dimensions. Kitiara's flying fortress was capable of flying directly over Shoikan Grove to Raistlin's tower, indicating that despite the impressive magical defenses, the Tower of High Sorcery existed fully on that plane and in that dimension.
That said, I would be very interested in seeing how people design the mechanics for Shoikan Grove or Wayreth Forest. =)

Extradimensional dangers... how about an ethereal hunter, or whatever those things are. Anyway, dangers from the ethereal and astral planes should be (more or less) commonplace. Perhaps not every day or every week commonplace, but common enough to be a worry for the school's staff. Perhaps a 1% chance of an encounter every day.
Likewise, the spells protecting the school should be a large story factor. Perhaps they have to be reinforced from time to time, as the permanencies holding them up wear down due to planar chafing.
