Kensai progression (Magus archetype)

Homebrew and House Rules

I would like to hear your thoughts about the 9th and 10th level of the Kensai. The way it is now, 10th level is practically as if it offers nothing to the character, since the Kensai gets a better version of Fighter Training at level 7. Also the Kensai loses only one Magus Arcana, the one from level 9, which is pretty annoying in my opinion because it stops the normal progression every three levels.

Wouldn't it be much better, if the Kensai got the Critical Perfection class feature at level 10 instead of level 9, and have it replace the original Fighter Training instead of the Magus Arcana gained at level 9? This way you get two things: 1. you get rid of a redundant class feature and the practically empty level 10 offers a cool feature, 2. you retain the normal progression of gaining Magus Arcana.

PS: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section!

You get critical perfection at 9 because that's "normally" the base attack bonus requirement for critical focus. Also more spells and arcane points hardly equals nothing.

edit Also, the kensai isn't the only Magus archetype that changes when you get magus arcana. Look at the bladebound.

Well what I meant was that the Weapon Training gained at 10th level is really a class feature that not only is it useless (since the Kensai has already got another version of it), but it also goes against the idea of the Kensai (who focuses on a single weapon and shouldn't need to gain fighter only feats that he can use with weapons other than his chosen). For this reason it's a class feature that should be removed from the Kensai's abilities the way I see it. And although spells and arcane points are ok, it's not like the Magus needs to get the Critical Focus feat as soon as possible. Besides, Critical Perfection also gives him another bonus so it's an ok ability even if the character can't gain Critical Focus at the same time. So if you get Critical Perfection at level 10 you can keep the Magus Arcana from level 9 and also replace Weapon Training at level 10, which shouldn't be there for the Kensai.

If it's a matter of power I get it, but personally I don't think that one more Magus Arcana can make a character overpowered, and maybe the fact that he needs to wait for two more levels to get Critical Focus balances that out.
