PFS #3-16 The Midnight Mauler Question

Scarab Sages 5/5

I'm going to be running this in about a week and a half and have a question.

Spoiler:
In Act 2, when the party is in the sewer it says "anyone who takes slashing or piercing damage needs to make a save for filth fever."

My question is what type of damage do a spider swarm and centipede swarm do. I am assuming (from looking at spider and centipede Stat blocks) that they are both bite attacks. I just wanted to get this clarified before next weekend.

Bites do slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage. You can check the damage type of a natural attacks under 'Universal Monster Rules' in the Bestiary.

Scarab Sages 5/5

You are correct, that bite attacks do all 3 types of damagee. Sorry, I should have specified my question better. Do they do bite attacks? If so, great. If not, what type of attacks (bite, claw, sting, slam, etc.) do they do?

Spoiler:
Well, giant spiders and giant centipedes both attack with bite, so I'd say their smaller swarming bretheren should probably do the same for the sake of consistency. I don't think it's ever spelt out anywhere in the rules for the various types of swarm, though.

I was thinking the same thing, but just wanted to get someone else's opinion before next week. Thanks Ninjaiguana.

Swarms do indeed do the damage type of their base creature, so in this case, bites (bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing)
