Templates from 3rd / 3.5

alright, I'm planning on using some templates from 3.5 and 3rd edition, and I just want to know if there are any special rules I should look into when converting. The Gamemastery Guide says to lower CRs for monsters converted by 1, should I lower the CR modifier for templates by 1 as well?

I would compare them to some of the other templates in the Beastiaries already, like Vampire, Lich, and the half-templates. This should give you a good comparison for power levels.

Alternatively, you could look at the monster creation rules and compare how much things like Attack Bonus, Average damage, and saves would go up and see if that would bump you up a CR or more.

Really no hard and fast rules, just eyeball it. Ask yourself "Does this creature feel like a CR+1 or CR+2?"

Also if you would like to post your conversions, I'm sure people on this board would be more than happy to help you with any trouble shooting or tell you if it is too powerful.
