Good morning, SGG crew!
When you had the idea for P20 Modern and setup the Kickstarter, Pathfinder had been formally released for less than a year.
I have to wonder, perhaps this was part of the reason that P20 Modern didn't take off?
Today, we're just shy of 3 years since Pathfinder was released.
Additionally, we see that Kickstarter is far more mature and far more mainstream than it was, and we see record levels on RPG projects. More people know what crowdfunding is, and more people are participating.
We've seen the advent of retailer-only pledges, allowing for Kickstarter-friendly retailers to take part in the funding process and get the product in their shops for sale.
We've seen that stretch goals can bring in significantly higher pledges/backers, which could be leveraged to meet the funding requirements.
Any chance of you folks giving a Kickstarter for P20 Modern another go?

Any chance? Of course there is.
But I doubt we'll try exactly that idea, or exactly that book. I've done a lot of my Anachronistic Adventurers designs since then, and I'm doing more over this summer. If I was to focus on a modern-type Pathfinder game right now, it would definitely build off those classes and the idea of chancing the era they are designed for with different archetypes (since archetypes are an integral part of the AA classes design).
I'd say a more-modern-themed book from us sometime over the next 18 months is a really good bet. Kickstarter is a definite path we might take to do that. But my current best guess is that we'd begin with a specific setting (and yes I have one in mind, and no I'm not ready to reveal what), and then we'd expand to other settings and eras from there.
But none of that is written in stone. :)

Owen, you tease!
I've been wanting a P20 Modern campaign since PRPG came out. I like GRC's version, but it still doesn't hit the PRPG feel. Plus, I'd like to have something that integrates into the current rule set, not something that begins from the ground up.
That said, in my own spare time, I've been playing with adjusting those Pathfinder classes that aren't arcane or divine to see how they'd translate to P20 Modern, e.g., Barbarian, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Gunslinger, Ninja... They look quite good as classes equipped with modern gear. But because of the absence of armor in a modern campaign, there isn't a switch without some adjustment.
The biggest adjustment is a Base Defense Bonus to armor class that compensates for the lack of armor, i.e., 1/2 Base Attack Bonus, rounded down. While this isn't an exact side-by-side match-up with D20 Modern classes, it works.
Last, when looking at the D20 Modern base classes, PRPG classes compensate well for Strong (fighter-type), Fast (rogue), Tough (barbarian), Charismatic (rogue). However, there are clear covers for Smart or Dedicated. So, should you be looking to Modern archetypes, you might also want to consider a new base class that covers scientists, doctors and other "heady" professions. (Just a thought.) The other thing would be to see how Ranger Skirmisher could open the door for other class archetypes that don't use spells.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I really like the direction the Anachronistic Adventurers series is going. From what I've heard about what's coming I'm confident there'll be plenty of modern material.
I wonder if somehow that early kickstart would've been successful if we would not have the AA series now. I also wonder if that supposed product would not be as well realized and not as good as what we do have now and what's coming.
So, I look forward with glad anticipation.
