So I am going to be playing in this adventure soon, and I was looking at trying out the Siege Mage archtype, seeing as how this might be one adventure it can actually be useful
So just a couple of questions for people who have played a bit already
1; Is there a fair amount of siege combat, enough to make the archtype worth it
2; what schools do you think I should give up. I was gonna drop Enchantment, but it seems that school might actually be worthwhile, what with all the humanoids I'll be fighting.
Any general tips are appreciated as well, thanks in advance

Siege Mage gives up a LOT of stuff for what seems to be very little in return. I can't honestly recommend it for a PC, since you'll often find yourself in situations where it won't help and you have very little to fall back on.
A cohort, on the other hand...

I'm going to have to agree. I think the best thing it offers is the Siege Engineer feat, which allows you to forgo taking an EWP as well. You just give up too much for it, IMO.
I mean, the empower siege engine ability allows you to sacrifice a 3rd level spell for +3/+9 on one attack? Why not just use the slot for a fireball. It doesn't miss, has better range (typically) and does more damage.
I agree that a cohort seige mage would be a fun choice.

It sounds like fun, I say go for it. I've read the first two modules, but haven't ran them. Siege engines are used during ship combat, which can fluctuate a bit depending on how the GM wants to run it, but there is the possibility of a significant amount of siege combat.
