One thing I saw that was pretty useful in SW:TOR was in the lead up to the launch of the game they had a guild creation system in their website. This allowed for people who were planning on playing the game to have information of their guild available as well as the ability to pre-add interested parties to their guild.
I have no idea if a feature like this would be practical to create after the Goblinworks forums get up and running, but it would be kind of nice.

Yeah the Pre-launch system was really handy. I mean the scale of the SW:TOR one was probably needlessly huge considering the amount of people that created accounts and then just never showed up. Or in some guilds which disappeared overnight due to being composed mainly of who lost interest. 200+ player guilds ceast to exsist in a mere matter of months.
That being said having a feature like this would allow us to forge our Companies more effectively and also allow goblin works to moniter the growing communities.

I would really appreciate something like this. I know there has been talk about getting guilds into the game whole as a part of the first 4500 and a system for tracking guilds would be very nice. That way Goblinworks can see our member rosters, and when launch day comes they can just automatically mail keys to all the people that have been with us for awhile.
Oh! And a note on that subject. Depending on how long it is announced before release GL will be temporarily halting recruitment if it is announced we are in with the first 4500. I don't wan't people hopping in last minute to get a game key. We'll resume recruitment once the keys have been distributed.
I think we all should adopt this policy unless we have more than a month of notice.

This is something I would like to see as well. It is a bit early for my guild to throw in our advertisements and begin recruiting. By the time alpha and beta phases come into play, though, that situation will be quite different.
This option is something we have done for several games we have made divisions for pre-launch, and is the best tool a community can have to ensure that their company thrives on launch day.
In the end this feature is something that helps guilds from the largest multi game community to the newly formed guild.
Great suggestion Gregg, lets hope Goblinworks listens.

My input
Sorry about that. As per usual in any forum system, a post about a topic gets lost in the shuffle.

My question on this subject is whether I should try and join a Chartered Company now just so I can get in on this 4500 player thing or not. My tabletop gaming group has unanimously decided to play PFO, and we've also tossed around ideas for our own Company, but I know that they're not nearly as active on the forums here as I am, and I'm not nearly as active as most of you lot. I think it'd be rather unfair, though, to have to wait a few months before we could get in, perhaps sporadically, while random guilds from other MMOs who haven't yet expressed any interest in PFO get free tickets. Nothing is to say that those guys are going to be more interested in this game than say any of the members of the Chartered Companies already formed on these forums.

I think if you show up, show interest, and take part in various activities as the game draws near, you can bump up your odds of being in the early waves. Joining a chartered company is probably a good way to enhance your odds, as well. The two with the largest presence I am seeing at the moment are The Great Legionaries, an organization dedicated to creating a great community, and The Seventh Veil, an organization dedicated to knowledge of all sorts (combat to crafting). Feel free to check out our respective recruitment pages!
The Great Legionaries is flexible, and is built around "a group of groups". We'd love to see you guys in game, working with us to create a good and responsible community. Talk to myself or Andius for more information, we'd be happy to oblige!

I wouldn't worry yourself over it too much, Martryn. While having a group of people you enjoy experiencing content with is important in and of itself, we just don't know exactly how things will pan out for this game.
In a situation where a game is in pre-alpha phases, anything and everything could change. We don't know if the initial launch numbers will be raised, if more will be put into account for non guilded members, any number of factors.
The decision to join a Company should be based off of the synergy between you and that guild. It should not be based off of making launch day. There are just too many great guilds you might miss out on making a hasty choice.

I guess I'm more worried about individual forum members not associated with a company, active without being omnipresent, being passed up for months. I'm heavily anticipating this game as it is. It would kill me for it to be out, to see YouTube videos of people playing it, and to still be active in these forums, without actually having played the game yet.
