Hey guys,
I'm running this on Tuesday, but just wondered about something....
Daviren Hosk - Supposedly a Legendary Goblin Killer. Now an old, retired man (I presume he's old).
First off, I was wondering if Shalelu is his understudy? If so, what would she know about killing or tracking Goblins?
Secondly, how old is Daviren exactly and what does he look like?
Finally, my main question:
A player of mine (an Elven Magus controlled by my gf) has a back story where Goblins killed her parents in a raid on her home town. Due to this, she hates them and wants to kill them on sight with no questions asked.
Should I give her character a bonus or any benefit from this?
She was taken in by Belor Hemlock as he wanted the responsibility of adoptive parenting, due to feeling sorry for the kid (even though the elf child is older than him) and wanting to keep up his reputation in town, especially knowing that most people knew of his relationship with Kaye Teserani.
Due to this, I was going to give my gf a player handout, telling her that Daviren Hosk would be a person she'd want to talk to for advice on hunting the sneaky little blighters.
If she wants her character to get some kind of training from Mr.Hosk, how would I go about this and what could I do that wouldn't make things unfair on other players? I was thinking maybe a +3 to Survival checks when tracking Goblins and a +2 atk and +2 damage bonus against them would be good, as it would take on the same properties as a Barbarian's Rage and knowing that her character would be angry, I feel this would be fitting, but any suggestions and advice on this would be extremely helpful to me!
Also, what could Shalelu add to this?
There's a Witch in the party as well and she said she'd know Belor, Ameiko and Shalelu, but more consider Shalelu as an acquaintance who she's had to deal with when aiding the town, but lives in a cave just on the outskirts of town (I didn't think there was one, but there is now.... and it's next to the graveyard apparently.....creepy).
The other two party members are a Sell Sword, Sword and Board Fighter who's gonna drop in and out whenever he can play and a Barbarian who travels a lot and just so happened to stumble across the town during the Festival period. He's staying in a Tavern, most likely in Ameiko's, so would probably know her too.
As such, I'd say all of the party members know some townsfolk and I'd just like to further expand on this, maybe not saying the townsfolk put full trust into the PC's or vice versa, but what benefits could this offer?
Cheaper Accomodation? Get out of Jail free cards? Cheaper goods? Free potions to aid them on their adventures?

The bonus, without any downside, is too much. I'd say add a -4 AC and a concentration check if she wants to cast a spell instead of just attacking with her weapons, and perhaps a will save if she tries to peacefully interact with any goblins. Unlike a barbarians rage, she does not control her rage and should not be able to call it up at will It controls her and forces her into actions that might not be optimal.
As for NPC boons, Paize has a whole list of them published. It's from one of the NPC books, I think. Check the SRD for details. In general, cheaper accommodation and minor discounts are possible, but remember that the NPC covers the cost out of their own pocket, so how much would you discount your friends? A good meal costs 5 s/day in game, in modern terms I'd guess a days worth of good food costs between $25 and $50, so keep that in mind.
A out of jail free or a potion is well beyond simply friendship. If the sheriff or priest/brewer is a good friend, it might be an option, depending on the circumstances.

Hmm, would a ruling of a +3 on Survival to track Goblins be enough then?
As for the cheaper accomodation etc, I didn't realise it was like that. I thought it would come out of the business' pay and if they've got a lot of business, hiring out a room slightly cheaper to someone wouldn't be too much of an issue. I dunno, like a 10% discount or something.
Potions would be if Father Zantus decided to aid the party in their adventures and get out of jail free cards would only be in place for those who he was very friendly with and considered extremely trust worthy.
This would start off with at least the Magus, possibly the Witch as well, but over time would be possible for the whole party to benefit from, once their heroic actions become recognised. :)

I'd let her swap out racial traits similar to how it's done in the APG:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advanced/advancedRaces.html
In this case, the closest boon is:
Eternal Grudge: Elves with this racial trait grew up in secluded, isolationist communities where generations-old slights and quarrels linger as eternal blood feuds. They receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against humanoids of the dwarf and orc subtypes due to special training against these hated foes. This racial trait replaces the elven magic racial trait.
I'd take that and switch the boon to be +1 be to attack, perception and survival vs. goblinoids.
