Question about achieving “Legal Table Size”

GM Discussion

Liberty's Edge

Howdy,

I have a question, but it might be worth pointing out that I’m not new to GMing, or to Pathfinder, but new to PFS play. That said, I’ll be running a home/online game with three other folks. As I understand it, to be legal, the “table” needs to seat four. The GtPFSOP says that a GM should just drop a pre-generated character in there to round it out, but I’m wondering: is there is anything wrong with dropping a personally-generated character in there?

I don’t intend on giving said character (official) Chronicles at the end of each scenario, but I do intend on having it level along with the rest of the group. Does this invalidate the entire process somehow? I cannot see how it would, but I figured it was worth asking.

Thanks, in advance, for any information.

To be considered a "legal" table for PFS, the 4th ghost character would need to be one of the provided pre-gens. A personal character should not be used for the spot.

Yeah, unfortunately/fortunately/the-way-it-is, you gotta use a PFS pregen. You can't give that character chronicles regardless.

You do however, as a GM, get a chronicle sheet yourself for GMing (which is detailed in the Guide to Organized Play).

I thought that might be the case, but hoped it wasn't. Ah well. Thanks much.
