On average, rank-and-file videogame professionals pocket more than
$81,000 per year, according to a study by Game Developer Magazine.
That alone is nearly double what the typical American takes home.

.

I find this interesting, because all the people I know are waiting to become
game programmers. Waiting for what?

.

I'd like to know how they arrived at that statistic. In all honesty, good programmers make very good money and are worth their weight in gold. I know programmers who have worked on AAA titles and pulled down 6 figures in a year, but it's a very volatile business. Designers, testers, graphic designers et al. are, relatively, a dime a dozen and can (and do) make considerably less.

IF you are averaging in all the business types, producers, and programmers who work on long-term projects, and you aren't averaging in the tons of people unemployed (and likely not polled for this research) you will get skewed results.

As for the actual list, none of them are people I really give a crap about.
