If I don't have my character sheet...

Pathfinder Society

Scarab Sages 5/5

Hello all! I'm working in a different province from my place of residence, and when I packed up my stuff I highly doubted that I would be playing any Pathfinder Society during my employment. Now I find out about Free RPG Day and that there's a store near by running the new module there. Now, I have a couple characters that are between levels 4-6, so normally I could play said module, but I have neither their character sheets nor their chronicle sheets... is there some way I could play the scenario and apply the credit to one of my characters? May be use one of the pregens and apply the credit that way?

Play a lvl 4 pregen for a tier 3-4 or 4-5 game, then apply that chronicle sheet to your character back home as soon as they reach the tier level. So, if that is a level 4 PC, immediately :)

Well Dawn of the Scarlet Sun comes with level 5 pregens so you can definitely play. As for credit keep in mind it would use the module rules for playing a pregen, not the scenario rules: "apply the credit from the pregenerated character played to a newly created character, with the GP gained reduced to 1,398 GP (or 699 for slow advancement track characters)."

if your dm reported the adventure there should be a record of it. Go to the pathfinder society page any hit my pathfinder society up top on the gray bar. Enter your password and you should be able so show your past sessions.

The character sheet you make IS the official character sheet, so as long as you don't change anything one piece of paper is as good as another.

If you play a module for PFS credit, wouldn't you have to use the official PFS Pregens, and not the pregens that appear in the back of the module?

The pregens included are legal for use in this module (and this module only) per the posts here.

Character sheets are sort of like pants. Required at most tables, occasionally you can get away without.

Sure you dont mean 500gp (250gp for slow track) 1,398gp is an awlful lot for a new 1st level character.

For modules below level 9, if you do not have a character

in the correct level range, you may use a Pathfinder
Society pregenerated character, available on paizo.com.
If you play a pregenerated character, you apply the credit
from the pregenerated character played to a newly created
character, with the GP gained reduced to 1,398 GP (or 699
for slow advancement track characters). Equipment listed
on the pregenerated character sheet may only be sold to
clear conditions, such as death, during the play of the
module and any remaining gold does not carry over at
the end of the module.

Dawn of the Scarlet Sun is a module, so following the Guide they'd get 1398. Unless its defined somewhere else. The Chronicle currently has nothing to say on the subject.

Considering your FLGS, Dennis, I'd strongly recommend pants (and possibly safety gear). The first time I played there, you were running a play test of God's Market sitting flanked by a sod cutter and a gas-powered mower.

However, it's not a full 32 page module, it's a special module that only awards 1 XP and 1 PP so the gold shouldn't be 1398. Check the FAQ:

How do the 16 page, Free RPG Day modules differ from the normal, 32 page modules for sanctioned Pathfinder Society Play?

The 16-page, Free RPG Day modules are shorter than a normal 32-page module and are more in line with a normal Pathfinder Society scenario. Currently, these include Master of the Fallen Fortress, We Be Goblins!, and Dawn of the Scarlet Sun.

To bring the Free RPG Day modules more in line with the rest of Pathfinder Society Organized Play, all current and future sanctioned Free RPG Day modules will award 1 XP, 1 PP and the gp amount listed on the Chronicle sheet if using normal advancement. If using slow advancement, they award 0.5 XP, 0.5 PP and half the gold listed on the Chronicle sheet. These apply only on successful completion of the adventure.

If you have played and been awarded a Chronicle sheet from any of the Free RPG Day modules listed above, the XP, Prestige Points, and gp you received remain unchanged.

All other rules for sanctioned module play, found in Chapter 6 of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, should be followed.

Edit: The chronicle states 2252 gold, for a character of the appropriate tier (4-6).

Yep, and the "all other rules in chapter 6" is what I posted about applying a module to a new char...

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5 ** Venture-Captain, Texas—Waco

Given that it's a 1 XP module/scenario I think 500 gp is the appropriate reward if the chronicle will be applied to a first level character, even if that's not clearly differentiated in the Guide.

It should probably be, but RAW its not. Maybe something to add to that FAQ question, Mike?

I screwed up on the Free RPG Day module, Dawn of the Scarlet Sun, chronicle sheet.

I listed full gold for a full length module of that level when it should have only been one-third of what is currently listed.

I will see if we can get it corrected today before it officially goes live tomorrow.

Sorry about that.

Doesn't it list something like 2200gp? One third of that (733gp) seems awfully low for a 4th-6th level PC. Or am I remembering the chronicle incorrectly?

Mike, you were correct the first time, don't change it! Both of the full-length 5th level modules, Carrion Hill and City of Golden Death, award 6,756 gp for tier 4-6 characters. One third of that is 2,252, which is what is on the chronicle.

The real question is, if you play a pre-gen and apply the chronicle to a new first level character, do you get 500 gold like it was a scenario or 1398 gold as if it was a full-length module? The "special module" rules aren't as clear as scenario rules when playing a pre-gen.

5/5

Yeah, money seemed OK for a level 5 scenario. I mean subtier 4-5 seems to give about 1,750~1,900 this season, and subtier 6-7 gives about 3,200, so a 4-6 giving 2,200 isn't really out of line I wouldn't think.

It just seems the rules about what to give a 1st level character for module play doesn't port well to this module... The 1,398 for normal modules may need an addendum for Free RPG day modules that aren't 1st level given XXX gold (since this is the first of its kind in that regard).

Yeah, I'm not at work today so can't double check. I was pretty sure I had made the adjustment but I was second guessing myself reading some of these since I can't look at it remotely. Thanks for clarifying.

I pretty sure this is the case and I wont be awarding anyone who plays in my 3 tables tomorrow more than 500gp for playing with a pregen.

I'm sure when Mike gets back he'll fix the FAQ to say that. In the mean time spread the word.

You play a pregen: 1xp, 1pp, 500gp gets applied to a brand-new character of 1st level.

You play a PFS Character within 4-6th lvl: 1xp, 1pp and 2252gp

If you play slow advancement divide everything in half.

Maybe I want my first-level PC to have +1 full plate! Ever think of that? ;)
