Gestalting Animal Companions and Familiars

Homebrew and House Rules

If you are playing a gestalt game or just want to put something together for the fun of it, give this a try. Combine animal companions and familiars into one creature. All you have to do is choose the best ability scores of the base creatures, choose the best HD, BAB, saves, skills, natural armor bonuses (they should not stack in my opinion), & bonus tricks. The gestalted creature receives all special abilities as well as various speeds, natural attacks, special attacks, and special qualities. Just consult the core rulebook (pgs 51-54 and 82-83). When it comes to adjustments in size, use you own judgement. Enjoy and let me know what you've made!

I've had the same idea for a while too. I've been wanting to try it out with a druid/witch gestalt character but haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

Sounds like a perfect fit! Which two animals?

Monkey familiar/Baboon animal companion was what I was thinking.

Right on. Sounds like a natural fit. I'd make something weird like a toad/wolf or a hawk/boar.

Dare I say it...

Owl + Bear.

Your mind. I just blew it.

This could be so much fun with Improved Familiar.

I'd love to combine the Agathion, Silvanshee (BS2) with something like a tiger or bear- or some other combat critter.
