Summon Monster II lists as one of the creature choices a Small Elemental. I know this means we can use it to summon Air, Earth, Water, and Fire elementals from the Bestiary.
In PFS, are the newer elementals (Magma, Mud, Ice, Lightning) also valid choices for the spell? They seem to fit the "Small Elemental" criteria just like the older ones.
The "Additional Resources" page lists that creatures from Bestiary 1 and Bestiary 2 are valid for Polymorph effects, but does not mention summoning for either case.
Thanks!

Personally if they were the same CR I would rule in favor of it, but I have not seen anything offical on this.

The creatures are the same CR and are very similar. I was just curious if Bestiary 2 creatures were allowed for Summon spells.
This question also applies for dealing with the Planar Ally line of spells as well; can a player call a creature from Bestiary 2 or 3?

The only thing I can find on the Additional Resources page is the few alternate summoning lists from the adventure paths. I vaguely remember this discussion before, but can't seem to find it at the moment. My assumption is that if they are the same CR and aren't more powerful then the normal elemental summons, they should be allowed.

IIRC the alternate summoning lists are 'priest' specific, so you need to be a worshiper of Dieity X to get the X summoning list. This suggests the alternates critters are restricted. Also the allowable items available from those books (B2, B3) are SPECIFICALLY listed (such as available for polymorph, animal companions, or familiars). There are lots of CR 1 monsters in Bestiary I which are not allowed. Combing the 1, 2, 3 above I take this to mean no.
But I would allow it for non PFS :)
EDIT: I should have searched the threads before responding :(
