So my group is only 2nd level right now, but I think it'd be fun to plan ahead on how we're going to handle the leadership roles for our kingdom. My elven illusionist, Phethian, is gonna gun for Magister, starting a magical school in the woods (or a nearby glade). Here's the thing, I want to expand on his duties and how he approaches education and the arcane business of the kingdom. The rest of the party is new to role playing games so I want to help them develop their characters and realize how much fun it can be to role play (instead of just roll play).
So here's my ideas for what Phethian will be do his job:
-Phethian follows the elven pantheon, especially Yueral, and has a strong appreciation of nature. The magical schools will be constructed in harmony with nature (hidden behind waterfalls, walls made of twisting trees, druids and wizards will be the main graduates, etc.
-The entrance exam to the magical academy will be to FIND the academy, as it will be hidden with illusions.
-Mundane courses on natural phenomena, history, geography, mathematics, and religion will be offered
-In dealing with magical threats to the realm, Pthethian's MO will be to disable the threat, study it, try to make it useful to the kingdom, and get rid of what can't serve the realm. I feel this utilitarian approach is a good reflection of his character and CN alignment. For example, say a manticore is harassing traders and eating cattle. Phethian would use illusions to catch it, try to reason with it to serve him, and if that didn't work use it as source of quill pens and get it stuffed.
What other ways have you played up your leadership roles? Did your barbarian general have a screaming horde? Did your Abadaran cleric try to break away from feudalism into capitalsim as treasurer? Does your bard ruler have a passion for opera that lead to a grand amphitheater?

I think there is already something like this on here somewhere.
