Dreamscarred Press's 2012 Logo & Design Contest!
Dreamscarred Press is proud to announce its 2012 Logo & Design Contest. In 2011, Dreamscarred Press held a Psionic Bestiary contest, where contestants submitted one or more psionic monster entries in hopes of receiving a paid writing commission. This contest is designed to give graphic designers and creative talents a chance to create a new logo or graphical designs to be used on Dreamscarred Press products. Dreamscarred Press owners Jeremy Smith and Andreas Rönnqvist will judge the entries and oversee the competition.
The Logo & Design contest contains two categories - Logo and Graphic Design. Each category will have a winner, and one contestant can win either or both categories. Winning prizes are based upon the category.
Logo Category
For the Logo Category, you can submit your graphical design for a new logo for Dreamscarred Press. The winning logo will be displayed everywhere the Dreamscarred Press logo is currently found, including all Dreamscarred Press books and website.

For the Design Category, you can submit your design for a Dreamscarred Press-branded t-shirt and other merchandise.

Quick request on behalf of all the other designers. Can you please give us a short "elevator pitch" regarding Dreamscarred Press (specifically what the needs are of this rebranding project), I can design 99 random logos for you in an hour, but I'd rather spend my time focusing on developing a single submission of the highest quality, one that will hopefully last for years (and win of course).
So - here goes,
1) What is the full text for the logo & the tagline/subhead that needs to be included?
2) Does this logo need to be more Modern/Professional or Antique/Fantastical?
3) Does it need to have the option of being Reversible (printable in White Ink only)?
4) Does it need to function on Trade Show Banners and Business Cards?
5) Anything else you's like to share style/opinion wise (like "No d12s in the logo")
6) Is there anything that will get a logo booted immediately (like the use of Papyrus or Comic Sans?)
Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone who enters - but I warn you, you best bring your 'A' game, I know I am.

Absolutely.
1) Just Dreamscarred Press
2) We don't have a preset logo concept, so either style is acceptable, although I would recommend avoiding "Comic book style".
3) That's not a strict requirement, but it wouldn't hurt
4) Yes.
5) When it comes to logos, my belief is that simpler is better. It should certainly convey the brand - and for us, that's psionics & the power of the mind - but if it's too busy, then it's easy to forget what the logo actually is. Creative, but concise.
6) Just the above mentioned "comic book style" - it doesn't fit the company. Modern and Medieval can both comfortably fit, but the sort of fonts you would see in, for example, 1970's Batman comics, would definitely clash with our style.
Thanks for the questions! A new logo is something that we've been discussing for a long time, and I do look forward to seeing what folks come up with!
