Question about Grok (Don't read if you want to avoid Spoilers)

Skull & Shackles

So Grok is supposed to have all the PC's starting equipment. Has Grok actually looked at this equipment? If she has, does she know the difference between a spell book and other types of books?

The question relates to a type of encounter involving Grok and a wizard with the manipulator subschool. If the player were to combine some sort of brief physical contact while making a diplomacy check, this would allow him to use his beguiling touch, thus making her agree with his request regardless of the actual diplomacy results (in this case, returning the PCs equipment). If Grok did not know that he was a wizard, she wouldn't have any reason to believe that the decision was anything other than her own, regardless of the outcome of the diplomacy roll. On the other hand, if she suspects one of the PCs of being a mage, the player might need to roll a bluff check if he severely fumbles up on the diplomacy check.

Liberty's Edge

If I remember correctly from my first reading, the crew doesn't place much value on books and it should be relatively easy to retrieve spell books. I might have misread this though.

Ah, thanks. I completely forgot about that. Well, that's one mystery solved. :)

Sovereign Court

Sorry for the thread necro, but I've got another question on the same topic. Regarding book 5,

The Price of Infamy:
I may have missed it, but it mentions that Grok has been replaced by another quartermaster, but I didn't see anything stating what exactly happened to her. Anyone point me to the info, if said info exists?

Thanks.

Its in book 5... you need to read to find out, harrigans stronghold ...its not nice

Ah, guess I skipped over it somehow. I'll check again. Thanks.

1) The Spell book is probably the only book on the ship that is not about ships. She probably has given all their stuff a once over and has a general idea of what they have. That being said, it was probably labeled as "book" and could probably be bought as so.

2)The players missing their stuff is suppose to encourage role-playing and creative problem solving more then anything. Any way the players can think to get their stuff back that seems reasonable to you is fair game. Beguiling Touch technically would not work since the target has to be lower level then the Wizard and Grok is not. Charm person should be fine though. Also the book recommends that Sandra might have important things like spells books that she got from Grok to give to the PCs. I took this option as buying the players love seemed the easiest way to get them to like Sandra.
