Since Hero Lab is not coming to the Ipad soon, can anyone think on how the setup mentioned in the title could work today?
I would pay up to 30 usd a month for a cloud desktop where I could install my Hero Lab, not sure if it is anywhere enough... I would also need CutePDF for making pdfs of my chars...

Have you considered trying Splashtop? We have a number of users who have said they are using it successfully on our forums, and I think a few users have also voiced there success here on the Paizo forums.
Oh, and now that the native Mac version is finally out, we're switching gears to focus intently on a tablet solution. Expect more information on the tablet plan in the next couple of months, after we officially nail various things down.
Thanks for the answer, will check it out, I also believe it might be easier to use Mac w. Ipad, because of the lower license costs.
I can confirm SplashTop is a viable option for Android. I'm assuming the same (or a similar) app would perform as well on iPad.
I have successfully used Hero Lab on my iPhone as a test case using the Remote Desktop feature available in Windows 7. The screen is far too small to be practical, and the interface rather sucks, but it might work a little better on an iPad.

Pretty much this. I tried this out last week at home with my Windows desktop and my (first-gen) iPad and it worked fine. I've got a PFS game at home this Friday night. After that, I'll go on the road with my laptop. The plan is to fire it up at the start of the session and run everything off the iPad.
