One of my favorite kits/classes to play in Dungeons and Dragons was the Fighter/Mage Class: Bladesigner. Recently we finished up a game in Pathfinder and I was able to play a Bladesigner. Jeff, our DM, came up with an alternate advancement of Magus for the Bladesinger. This alternate advancement took the class features of the prestige class and brought them up to Pathfinder standards.
I enjoyed playing this version of a magus and so I got permission to post the alternate advancement for the Magus class. The Bladesinger increases the martial prowess of the Magus and ads some bardic elements. This advancement pairs great with the ”black blade” advancement. My Bladesigner used a scimitar and was a crit monster. Spell striking with a large critical range proved to be very effective, for example: a critically spellstoke Disintegrate!
