The biggest concern is running-time. Kingmaker will take years and years to run. Jade Reagent is "normal campaign length." The PBP format exacerbates these time issues.
Pratically speaking, this means that you will likely not finish Kingmaker, as groups tend not to last for that long before disbanding.

Well, my players are people with whom I play a monthly Carrion Crown game now. Therefore, I know all of them well, and I'm hoping that will prevent things from derailing as they sometimes do in play-by-post games. I know that some of them like the sandbox idea, but I don't know if it will be difficult to manage the kingdoms in a pbp game. At the same time though, I can see how political intrigue could work well in a text heavy game.
With that being said, however, I'm drawn to the Eastern theme of Jade Regent since I speak some Japanese, and my wife is Japanese, so I could really explore the eastern mythology aspect.
