Need help finding medium-sized minotaurs

Scarab Sages

So, I'm in the early part of running the "Dragonlance: War of the Lance" campaign for some friends of mine (updated using the Pathfinder Core Rules). The campaign is doing great, and I'm finally getting some great use out of my Dwarven Forge sets that have been sitting on the shelves as I've built up my sets over the years waiting to be used.

As you might've guessed, I'm a bit of a miniature junkie, and really prefer having miniatures that accurately depict what my players are facing when they play the game. Fortunately, I've been able to get my hinds on some draconian minis from the D&D Miniatures line. I even was able to get my hands on some Kender miniatures from the old Ral Partha D&D line (set the way-back machine to the early 1990's). But can't get my hands on any medium-sized Minotaurs (the minotaurs of this setting are medium-sized and are available at some point as PC's).

I've so far only been able to find the following miniature from Reaper Minis available for my campaign:

I'm already planning to purchase at least six of these miniatures and mod the crap out of them with other weapons and different paint schemes, but I'd like to avoid them all having the same looks.

My question to the community is, do you know of any medium-sized minotaur miniatures available from Reaper, or any other manufacturer, that would be appropriate for my campaign?

Megamini's has some minotaurs, but they're in the old 25mm scale, and actually seem a bit small, even for medium figures.

The other option I know of, is to find some old MageKnight miniatures. They did a few different types of minotaurs, and they're medium size. One of the models in particular though was without weapons or armor, and in a pose as if charging...so it could be hard (but not impossible) to modify with some weapons.

DDM had at least one medium minotaur.

It might not be worth it, but if you check out the animal toobs that you can find at craft/toy stores, the Mythology Toob has a minotaur that could be medium.

I have some of the MK minotaurs and they're definitely large--at least, the "minotaur warrior" sculpt is Large, I haven't seen any of the others.

Whenever someone wants a Large monster in Medium size, I recommend browsing 15mm-scale miniatures. For example, the Demonworld game (now sold by Ral Partha Europe) is 15mm, and their Orcs faction has minotaur minis. Examples:

#4024 pack of 16 minotaurs
$4024A or just two minotaurs from that set
#4024B minotaur leader and standard-bearer from that set

This site has six 15mm minotaurs with axes

Wargames Foundry has Minoan minotaurs but they're more uncivilized than the others I've linked. But they are human-sized minotaurs in 28mm scale.

I had the same problem a few years ago. I found it was easier to just take biggish 28mm minis and add the Minotaur features. Horns, the snout on front, some hair in the back, were all pretty easy with epoxy putty. I mostly used half orcs and a few half ogres, I think.

Trying to avoid 15mm miniatures as all the minis on the table are in the 28mm range. I can imagine it would be difficult for players to take the threat seriously of a "large imposing minotaur" when the mini depicting it was about the size of a halfling.

I'll have to keep my eye open at some of the summer conventions and see if I can score some cheap Mage Knight minotaurs. I have spare 25mm bases that I could easily transfer them over to.

If anybody should know of any other medium-sized minotaur miniatures that fit my needs, please post them. If nothing else, I'd be interested to see what sort of options are out there.

Ah, you misunderstand me.

Minotaurs, in general, are bigger than humans. They're Large, in Pathfinder terms.

15mm minis are about half the size of a 28mm mini.

So if you have a 15mm mini of a creature that's supposed to be about twice as big as a human, it ends up about the size of a 28mm human.

So a 15mm Large minotaur is about the size of a 28mm Medium human.

Thanks for the input, Sean. I had not considered the issue of size in regards to how you've put it. I'll have to investigate the 15mm miniature line a little closer.

I typically enjoy doing most of my gaming purchases online, but it sucks when I can't actually see the miniature in person prior to purchasing it. If I could, much of my concern here would be taken care of.

I'll be sure to post how this all resolves itself in the near future.
