PCGen v5.17.12 is an alpha release with a difference.
We continue to improve our new user interface! Some of the more noticeable changes are:
Added kits support
Revamped the Advanced Sources tab
Description tab - Added notes functionality
Reorganized menus
The new user interface does most of what you are used to, but we still have to get familiars, companions and temporary mods working. It is important to remember that this is an alpha in the industry standard sense and will have rough edges. We are putting it out for feedback but recommend you don't pick it up for your regular game use just yet.
PCGen is an RPG character generator and maintenance program (d20 systems). All datafiles are ASCII text files so they can be modified by users for their own campaigns.

Noticed that you have a Mac version. That's really nice!
I have dotted so that I can come back and take a look later. I will certainly try it out alongside the Excel Spreadsheet that our group uses (and which doesn't work very well on my Macbook).
Wish I could remember what spreadsheet, I know that the two actuaries (in other words, Excel GODS) have made a bunch of fixes to a sheet that someone else started and was unable to keep developing.

As David said, this version is an Alpha version. It has some nice new interface improvements, but if you want something which is a full release, there is also a full release version of PCGen, which I definitely suggest if you have never used it before.
Yes, 5.17.11+ are industry style alphas, ie. missing function, etc.
You can download a very stable and complete, alpha from HERE that is rock solid and has all functions.
The only issue would be that the data is not the latest.
