I really like this show and am watching it on bbc America a lot. Also will anything make Jeremy Clarkson more angry then a hybrid golf cart? This show is generally really funny. I tried searching found several refrences to it but no actual thread about it. Also did anyone notice the Stig is Gits spelled backwards.

"Stig" is apparently what they used to call newboys at the secondary school Clarkson and one of the other creators attended; originally the mutant racing driver was going to be called "the gimp".
The chemistry between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May is fantastic, and they feature an awful lot of super-cool cars.

I don't actively hunt for the show but still end up watching it a time or two a week when flipping through happens to stumble across it.
(also watch the US version, for that matter).
I could usually care less about cars but I enjoy the interaction of the guys on the show and some of their humor. Jacking with each others cars during the competitions and such.
A pretty good show all around.

I watch it all the time, but then again I am British! Clarkson's screen persona shouldn't be confused with reality, he's actually really down to earth and pretty liberal. Much like Gordon Ramsay (wife has met him and he's a true gentleman). I can't tell one moderately priced car from another but still watch the show for the interplay between the presenters and the weekly challenges. Faves include:- driving to the north pole, launching a three wheeled car into the upper atmosphere space shuttle style, winter olympics (with cars), driving across the english channel (both times) and caravan conkers. It's a show where a bunch of blokes say "why don't we..." and then the BBC gives 'em a big wad of cash to realise it and stick it on the telly for our amusement. It's as British as fish and chips and if anyone wants to know what goes on in the average Englishman's head they should just watch a few episodes. And on that bombshell...

I have never seen the american version. I don't like cars amd I think the british version is good for a laugh, and the season specials are excellent tv.
The US version is a joke, completely bereft of technical information. Seems like it's just an excuse to make bad jokes and showcase grown men acting like fools.
Wait, crap - I just described the majority of American reality television...

All three versions of Australian Top Gear were steaming piles of crap. The British one is funny and it's ment to be. It is 90% entertainment 10% car show. It is worth watching and it took me 6 seasons to get bored with it. I will still watch any of the hosts other shows like Hammonds engineering show.
