Greetings Netizens,
This thread is intended to have DMs share some of the most useful gaming aids that they have used in 4e games.
Here is my top X list:
* Dry erase vinyl grid
* Condition tokens (wooden tokens that are placed under the minis or counters to show what conditions the character or creatures is afflicted with)
* 3x5 cards with condition descriptions
* Campaign Cartographer(tm) (I do all the major, pre-planned encounters in CC now - the difference to the players between a quick drawn sketch on the battlemat and a nice, color CC map is huge.)
* 3x5 cards with pre-generated treasure
In service,
Asphere

When I used to DM 4E:
1. Poker chips for action points. White =1, blue=2, Red = 3. It was fun to use them - just toss them across the table and scream "ACTION POINT"!
2. Plastic bottle drink rings. You know - the little rings that are left on the bottle top after you remove the lid. I would use red ones for bloodied, white for marked, etc...
3. Band-aids - to keep track of healing surges (lol).
RPG in general:
1. Paizo's Combat Pad (what was life like before?)
2. DWARVEN FORGE and Hirst Arts terrain.
3. My laptop

The GameMastery initiatve tracker with dry-erase magnets for PC and monster names. I also made magnets with most conditions and effects, so I can stick the condition magnet (and Save Ends or End of Turn, as appropriate) right on the tracker.
Pipe cleaners. Cut into thirds, and twist each third into a circle. Red for Bloodied, and each character can pick their own color for their Mark/Quarry/Curse/whatever effects. They go right on the minis on the battlefield for conditions that need to be visible.
1-inch-grid easel pads (office depot had a 4-pack at a decent price) for drawing out spur-of-the-moment maps.
Magnetic 1-inch-grid, bendy walls, and flags with condition markers from Dark Platypus.
