What the subject line says. I'm curious if anyone is running PFS games in Ottawa, Ontario. I'm a total newb when it comes to PF although I'm getting ready to GM some BB games for some friends of mine. I was hoping to get some additional experience, at least as a player, and PFS seemed like a good way to get some.

The best place to start in Ottawa are all the RPG shops, see if they're hosting PFS games or have any adverts for games needing players. Stores like:
- Fandom 2
- Silver Snail (if it still exists)
- The Comic Book Shoppe (Bleeker Mall on Clyde)
Also, you should check out Can Games, which will probably be hosting some PFS. They don't have any PFS yet, but they probably will have at least one game hopefully (if the Shackleton's are around).

I don't live in Ottawa anymore, but it's my home town. Good luck!

It's true. But if there are PFS gamers in Ottawa who want to step up and run something at Cangames, then I'm happy to help organize as much as I can from Toronto, including liaising with Mike to provide convention support, if there's enough sessions running.
For the few people I've seen who are lamenting the lack of PFS at Cangames... what's stopping you from running it or recruiting other local GMs? How can I help?

For my part it was more an observation than lamentation.
In any case it just seems to be hard to find PFS in Ottawa. . . lots of 4E however. As a gamer who has been around a few years (played 1st ed when it first came out <sigh>) GMing comes down to a lack of bandwidth . . .usally work or family priorities taking precedence.

Being from Ottawa originally, I occasionally find myself back there, and I know that there are a few game stores around that have table space for gaming - specifically Fandom 2 downtown, the Wizard's Tower in Barrhaven, and (I think) the Wizard's Tower in Kanata. Not sure about the east end, as that's never really been my stomping grounds.
For what it's worth, starting up play at a store is actually pretty easy. If you've got the time and the will, I can walk you through the process. We started with no public PFS games in Toronto less than a year ago, and between the events that Robert and I coordinate, we're up to 35-40 regular players and another 15 or so who drop by from time to time.
If you've got 3 friends, you've got a game night (with a pre-gen.) Play in a public place and be welcoming, and it'll grow. I started bi-weekly, and other places have started monthly, so there doesn't have to be a weekly commitment off the bat.
Anyway, as I said, I'm happy to advise and support any start-up operation in Ottawa as best I can from here in Toronto, and I'm certain Robert feels the same way. (For that matter, I'd be surprised if any Venture-Officer between Australia to (our) west and Croatia to (our) east felt different!) If anyone out there is willing to do the heavy lifting, you've got a support network here to draw on.

A friend of mine and myself are driving down to Cangames from Montreal, and we would be willing to run 1 table of PFS during the 3 Saturday timeslots and the Sunday morning one. We can prep 2 scenarios each, so each timeslot would be different.
We're waiting to hear from another group of potential PFS players also making the trip from Montreal (i.e. I know they play PFS and I know they are going to Cangames, but I don't know if they'd want to play PFS at Cangames...) before choosing what scenarios to bring, but I did not see any deadline for GM submission on the Cangames website.
Jeff, if you could facilitate the contact with the Cangames organizers, that would be appreciated. PM me if you need more details.

I know the wizards tower in Kanata does not do PFS events, which sucks.
If I had my saturdays I would ask the owner if he could get them going and I would volunteer to GM as needed.

Often, stores don't do the events because they don't think there's the interest. Store owners don't always organize events; they just offer the place as a location. I don't know what Wizard's Tower's hours are like, but our game times in Toronto are not weekends - we play on Tuesday and Thursday nights. And at the early stages, GMing is pretty much all there is to coordinating a night - pick up the scenario, drop by, and run it for whoever shows up.
Anyway, I'll stop. I don't want anyone in Ottawa to think I'm pressuring you guys to start something up - I just want to make it clear that starting up a game day/night is not as hard as you might think, and you don't need any kind of special title or position to do it. Anyone who wants to give it a shot is welcome to shoot me an email.

I can absolutely do that. I sent you an email via the address in your profile rather than a PM, because I'm much more regular with checking email than the forums. :)

Hey Gents. I intend to attend Cangames. Very busy year for my business so I can't organize anything or GM like I did last year but if there is PFS I'll be playing!
The con is a bit notoriously hard to get in touch with but even if you let them know on site you may be able to add a few slots as long as a table is available.
