Something about Cheliax?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hey there. Question for all you people who know things. My players are pretty into Golarion, and official setting and whatnot, whereas I'm relatively new to those concepts and have only really started to grow fond of Golarion thanks to my new Dragon Empires Gazetteer. I'll probably be the one to introduce Tian Xia to them since I got that book first, whereas they know a ton about the Inner Sea region, and I know little of it.

In-character in one of our most recent sessions one PC made a snide remark that one of the others must be from Cheliax. The other reacted angrily and ordered him to never insinuate that again... Despite the fact that she is from Cheliax.

I as the GM basically sat there thinking "Okay, it's good to see you guys are actually roleplaying conversations... But I have no idea what you're talking about." And I'd rather not ask them to explain, since they tend to get condescending about things they know that I don't, and for now I'm pretty sure they think I'm as familiar with the Inner Sea as they are.

So... Question: What's up with Cheliax that a PC might be so outraged to have someone suggest she's from there?

Dark Archive

Maybe the fact that Cheliax is a empire devoted to devil worship. The worship is openly practiced thruought Cheliax. The state sponsored religion is the Church of Asmodeus.

"Cheliax suffers from extreme diabolism and a tyranny which prevent it from truly achieving its full potential. Internal observers, including the new nobility of Cheliax, firmly believe that Asmodeus and Hell serve Cheliax and assist in maintaining the power necessary for Cheliax to assume its rightful role among the leading nations of the Inner Sea"

Ah, that explains a LOT.

Thanks for such a quick response. ^_^
