Weapon Size & Magic Item

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey everyone. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read over my request and possibly give me a hand with this.

Okay so i'm currently looking for a way to wield weapons 1 size categoy larger then a medium character can normally wield. I a not trying to make anything over the top like wielding a huge or gargantuan weapon.

I was looking @ options like the Titan Mauler on (pg 30 of the APG). But the GM in the campign I am playing in would rather not play around with the archetype in his game. So currently he and I are going back and forth on some Ideas, and I purposed the idea of maybe a wondorus item that would allow a character of medium size to wield weapons 1 size category higher, with a reduced negative to combat with the weapon.

I was thinking of a Wondorus item with a little flavour like maybe "Mantle of the Jotun" that would take up the body slot and infer only a -1 or -2 to melee. The trouble is I have no idea how to go about pricing out such a custom item, and was hopign a few of guys might have some suggestions on how to create a item along these lines.

I am looking for a way figue to make such a item, thats both fair and fun to play around with and potentially reasonably costed.

Look forward to hearing back from you guys, and thank you again for your time.

Well, you can already do that, with some restrictions.

From the PRD:

Spoiler:

Inappropriately Sized Weapons: A creature can't make optimum use of a weapon that isn't properly sized for it. A cumulative –2 penalty applies on attack rolls for each size category of difference between the size of its intended wielder and the size of its actual wielder. If the creature isn't proficient with the weapon, a –4 nonproficiency penalty also applies.

The measure of how much effort it takes to use a weapon (whether the weapon is designated as a light, one-handed, or two-handed weapon for a particular wielder) is altered by one step for each size category of difference between the wielder's size and the size of the creature for which the weapon was designed. For example, a Small creature would wield a Medium one-handed weapon as a two-handed weapon. If a weapon's designation would be changed to something other than light, one-handed, or two-handed by this alteration, the creature can't wield the weapon at all.

So you can do it with anything aside from two-handed.

Now, if you're interested in two-handed, then I would refer you to two things in 3.5e as a reference in building your custom magic item:

1) Strongarm Bracers. I don't remember how much they cost, but they do exactly what you're talking about.

2) Monkey Grip feat. It allowed you to wield a weapon one size larger at a -2. I am not sure if the inappropriately sized weapon rule as described above existed in 3.5e. If it did, this feat's intent was to allow 2-handed weapons as one size larger. If not, then essentially everyone has been given a modified version of this feat.
