Infinite Spear Style

So I had this idea for a custom class to be played in an upcoming game with my friends but am having trouble with the set up and balancing of the class. I know what I want it to be like {A sort of mix between Mifune's infinite one sword style for Soul Eater, and Archers Unlimited Blade Works from Fate Stay Night}

The concept would be that the character would be able to conjure spears {Starting as basic spears at lvl 1 and getting better every few lvl's till masterwork at lvl 20} to fight with. the starting number of spears able to be summoned would also begin low and increase every fourth or fifth level with the quality increasing on the other. {Eg lvl 4 more spears and lvl 5 better quality or reversed}

What I need help with is setting up the skills that would be needed for the class and some filler feats to add to it along with deciding on a hitdice.

Any help or advice on this would be welcomed and well recieved.

I always liked their idea for a spear-thrower. It was a pretty fun class to play; you could even make it an alternate of the bard class if being a leader is your thing.


I think the least painful way of writing up something like this is as a series of feats. That way maybe you can put them on someone like a monk or rogue who is athletic enough to do some of the things from the show.

Conjure Spear
prerequisite: BAB +1

The warrior is able to summon a spear from the psychic plane. Doing so is a move action unless the warrior also has the feat "Quick Draw." The spear deals 1d8 damage, has a range of 20', and deals x3 damage on a natural 20.

If the spear leaves the summoner's possession, it vanishes at the end of the round.

Imbue Spear

The warrior must destroy a magical weapon at a holy site, using prayer and meditation to draw the energy into himself. Spears he summons using "Conjure Spear" or related abilities are considered +1 magical.

At levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 the warrior can destroy another weapon, increasing the enhancement bonuses of those he summons by +1, for a total of +6 at level 20.

Conjure Volley of Spears
prerequisite: BAB +6, Conjure Spear, Quick Draw

The warrior is able to summon as many spears as he can throw in a round, creating them as fast as if he were drawing ammunition.

Beyond this, take feats that add to your mental image, like Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, feats to improve his spear throwing or fighting, whatever.
