Dragon Disciple and the Martial Application

Homebrew and House Rules

I was wondering taken as is except for removing the spell casting requirement (Maybe replace it with Eldritch Heritage) how do you think the Dragon Disciple would work as a martial prestige class?

Yes I know about the wayfinder 06 rendition of this but it seems a touch too beefy and my roommate/players don't trust anything 3rd party or homebrew for that matter and one of them takes it as a personal affront when one of us tries to experiment with the mechanics... Wondered off topic there for a second.

Anyway thoughts... Opinions?

I think it already is mostly a martial prestige class (and that goes double for the 3.5 version). Replacing the spellcasting requirement with a feat or something should be just fine, IMO.

I think that it would be ok, but it would weaken the prc some. It can work pretty well as a martial class if you just focus on the martial side with a touch of magic, it almost ends up like the paladin or ranger in that regard. For instance crossblooded empyreal/draconic sorc 1 monk 4, dragon disciple x can be a pretty beastly combatant. The magic ends up being a minor portion of your abilities, and most of the abilities revolve around punching things in the face.
