Computer + Device Problems

Technology

Hello forum,
I have this problem where none of my PCs are recognizing my phone or my kindle fire. I connect the device to the computer just as instructed, but then nothing happens except the device starts to get charged.

All 3 computers are using Windows 7 (of different types) and an Asus motherboard.

I think that since I have restricted the windows updates, as they have been found to be incompatible with Asus hardware, that I have missed some drivers somewhere along the way. Can anyone help please?

Thank you,
-Hexen

THE MACHINES HAVE BEGUN TO REBEL!

Go to the phone/tablet manufacturer and download the latest drivers for your devices from their websites and install them on your PC, this should allow your PC to detect the devices. On the Android devices make sure that USB debugging is turned on also.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out I was using only micro USB cords meant for charging the devices, not connecting them to PCs. I was quite surprised that Samsung would give us a Mirco to standard cord, but not have it actually capable of data transfer!

Again thank you,

-Hexen

I had that problem when I upgraded my phone from the original Droid to the Nexus Prime. I was using a spare LG micro USB cord for my Droid that worked fine for charging and data transfers but for some reason the cord won't transfer data to the Nexus Prime. The cord would allow the NP to charge but wouldn't let it be recognized by my laptop or PC.
