Crown of the World / Darklands connections?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Silver Crusade

Got this idea for an azruverda/svirfneblin/drow mishmash culture, but then I realized a potential issue that could complicate its origins:

Does the barren frozen wasteland area around the tip top of the world connect to earth at some points or is it all over water?

Oh I suspect there are at least a few entrances up there, but whatever lives under them keeps them well hidden

In this case it'd be both what lives above and below. ;)

Thinking of an ancient undersea, extinct volcano now, with its peak somewhere within the icecap.

What I was wondering was what the standard assumption is for what's underneath most of the ice in the Crown, rock or water. The former makes it a non-issue. The latter just means something needs to be pointed out.

Remember, unlike Terra, the northern pole of Golarion is NOT icepack floating on ocean. The Crown of the World is a continental plate, like Antarctica on Terra. It's ground under that glacier - you've even got a big-ass mountain range right next to the pole!

There's also a mysterious relationship between the Black Blood of Orv and the tower at the center of the pole, which is strongly hinted at and was confirmed by James Jacobs. This certainly suggests that there's a physical connection that heads all the way down to Orv.
