My party is nearing the end to reaching Tazion and I'm calculating what day they will arrive on.
However I've hit an interesting snag and would welcome suggestions.
So should the loss of these NPCs mean that the PCs lose their bonus travel time? Or have the NPCs managed to contribute enough that the reduced time should carry through?
I'm kind of torn in that while I don't want to penalize the party that I also want the results to be accurate as to when the PCs arrive at Tazion.

My group just arrived at Tazaion last session and what I am finding is that they are going to take days anyway to deal with what is there.
I suggest letting them keep their lead. I had a similar thing to down. I figure they took the help rather than reject it so the time they should have saved from that help should be theirs.

I would say that Athyra had already contributed (since her knowledge was probably concerning the Bandu Hills and M'Neri Plains near where the PCs find her) and loosing Nkechi probably wouldn't add more than a day, maybe two days tops. Assume that he's taught them the majority of what they need to know to keep making good time.
The important thing is that the PCs should still have a CHANCE to arrive first if they play smart. If they've done everything right so far but got shafted by a couple bad random encounters, I'd consider having them catch up to the first place scouts a few days outside of Tazion. Maybe the leaders had to backtrack around a band of trolls in the hills or around a particularly testy herd of triceratops or something. That way if the PCs choose to deal with the current leaders (even just to slow them down) then they still feel like they have some control over when they arrived.
Just my 2cp.
