The magic item creation rules are not fair and balanced. Talk to your DM and woe be to your game if he or she allows that.
Also traps are traditionally immobile, ranger variant not withstanding. That's part of the reason they're so cheap. What you described is an item that does not take up an item slot. It would be double the cost, not half.

Screw the trap, why can't I just have a breastplate and shield of portable hole? Arrows are useless against me! Raawrr!
You could make the shield and armor out of wire and cloth! No armor check penalty because it is so light. Nothing can hit it anyway? How would you sunder a portable hole?
