Flying Car!

Yay!

Looks good. It's not Back to the Future but it flies.

More like a cross between a dune buggy and a hang glider. Still cool, but until we get a little better with antigravity technology I don't think we'll see much in the way of mass marketable flying cars. I really hope by then we have decent auto-drive software. I'd hate to see some of the idiots around here (Atlanta, GA) who drive also be flying. Talk about nightmare.

The inventor's personal story is even more fantastic, raised by the aboriginal natives who killed his father.

Looks pretty awesome. Also, props to Oshkosh!

Note that the vehicle is a lot slower flying than on the ground.

Bah! As a young kid, my dad's issues of Popular Science promised me a Moller flying car, and I still won't settle for anything less!

I hope to gods these things have strict as hell license requirements. I also hope people can get the death penalty for flying one of these while drunk. Seriously. Awesome as all hell, but incredibly dangerous, and anyone who uses one while wasted needs to die.

I imagine the FCC would require an ignition interlock on all flying cars before being certified for flight. And probably some very sophisticated form of autopilot/self-landing system so the aircar computer does all the real work.

Just remember this isn't really meant for recreational use by a bunch of dumb americans, it was designed with humanitarian relief effort in mind.

Doesn't mean that's how it will actually be used. The internet wasn't designed with porn, lolcats, and Youtube in mind, but that's what a lot of people like to do with it.

Edit: Also, I'm pretty darn certain that (US) America does not hold any kind of monopoly on Dumb.
