Most MMO's you see have good v evil, this v that (except Dark Ages of Camelot who had 3 sides) - I don't wish to see another 2 sided mmo with battlegrounds in the middle, its a very poor excuse for PvP.
I would absolutely love to see an MMORPG version of Eve, skill points system to skill up, no levelling grinds woohoo!!
Then you choose to join a guild, which captures and holds territory outside of "Civilisation", who maybe joins an alliance of guilds who hold several territories - people from outside the guild/alliance will be fair game for pvp if they enter those areas held by those guilds.
Guild/alliance warfare to take territory from each other.
In the Civilised areas, there are guards who protect you from being ganked etc, safe areas to hunt away from the pvp crowd. Maybe to trade, mine, forage, craft.
So yes, basically - an MMORPG version of Eve please - that would indeed be the most awesome of games!!

I'm definitely in agreement here.
I'm hoping that the game world will be large enough to have something similar to EVEs low sec/high sec worlds. I would rather see player driven factions (like corps) and not a good vs evil thing (wow).Hell, I would really love to have the opportunity to clear out a lair or dungeon while exploring, and then turn it into my own lair and attract followers. Send little NPC's out to mine and prospect and cut wood nearby. How cool would it be if you just wanted to be a bandit, so you got 5 or 10 of your buddies, cleared out an old ruined keep and used it as a base of operations for banditry.

Awesome idea - have your own dungeon and populate it with "hired" monsters, place your own traps and puzzles - might be a bit much though :)

I for one dislike pVP, and much prefer PVE.
I actually like the Kingmaker model, where you (an adventuring party) go out explore, do some dungeon delving, clear an area of monsters and a bandit lord, then receive a charter to start a settlement. While you set the towns people to do what they do, collect resources and gather food, your group of adventurers is responsible for dealing with problems ie wandering monsters, banditry, squabbles between your nobles etc.
oh i almost forgot, I like the idea of having actual wandering monsters.... so at 1st level, you might run across a hill giant. I dislike the model where area is tied to level. I much prefer as you explore the map, you you don't know what you will find, and you don't know what will find you while camped at night. This way it will be different each time you play.

As well there are already factions in Pathfinder... are we going to be able to join them? Heck, what better way to get funding for starting your new town then joining the Aspis Consortium. And if you join them would that put you at odds with the Pathfinders faction? And if there is the factions you can join, would there be a Pathfinder lodge/guildhall you could hangout in?

I have a feeling I'm going to be saying this a lot in the next 5 years:
Take a look at how Guild Wars did PvP. That's the right answer.
For those who haven't played it: in the PvE locations, there is no PvP. There are separate locations - in Guild Wars, I believe they're called the Battle Isles - where PvP is all that goes on. Don't want to PvP? Then don't. Don't want to PvE? You don't have to, thanks to microtransactions. You can purchase skill and equipment unlocks that can be used only on PvP-only characters. These characters cannot then go into PvE lands.
In the heyday of 8v8 Guild Vs. Guild battles, there was not a more innovative and exciting system out there. I doubt there is even now. Open-world PvP is very troublesome. Focused PvP is fantastic, and would bring a ton of competitive people to the game.

That's the right answer for people who enjoyed that style, just as there were those who enjoyed the griefing style of Lineage.
It's not the "right answer" for everyone. For me my favorite PVP scenario was the old classic version of WOW's Alterac Valley when we literally had battles that ran for days, where things such as resources, epic summonings, as well as plain old knuckle down fighting all had their place.
Warcraft also allows for player managed PVP. The way to go really depends alot on designer aesthetics, they may not be interested in making PVP a major factor in game design or as others have done designate PVP rules by server.
