We've just started playing the Second Darkness campaign and are at the point where the PCs are returning to the Golden Goblin to start working for Saul. Thing is I don't know where to take things from here. The module has rules and such for doing mundane tasks at the Goblin, but there's nothing specific for them to do outside the gambling hall. Seems to me the adventure wants you to play it week-by-week and have Saul make profession checks each week. Am I right?
My PCs are going to want to do something other than that while I wait for the raid so what task(s) would Saul set them to now that they're working for him?
Until the raid, and minus the specific entries, there doesn't seem to be a lot for the PCs to do at this juncture.

There is a Forum, if you scroll down a few miles, for each of the Adventure Paths, including Second Darkness. There you'll find tons of Threads on SD, past and present, and people who are currently running it. I'll flag this Thread to get it moved for you.
In the meantime, though it's been a few years since I did Second Darkness, I remember that the set piece with Father Padrick at the old Sarenrae church was okay and you could easily have them do that while they're at the Goldin Goblin.
Or you could just speed things up and cut out a couple weeks. Most of the Adventure Paths have gaps like this built in for PCs to craft items, work on their own character background goals, or get some extra XP to catch up.

My group, on the other hand, took a great deal of interest in what was going on in Riddleport and took it upon themselves to seek out various NPCs and situations without any DM prompting. We had a couple of sessions where we didn't make any progress in the actual printed adventure because they were so busy scheming and stirring up trouble with the various crime bosses.
My advice is, if your players are sitting there waiting for you to progress the game, go with DMFTodd's advice and fastforward them. If they want to get involved in Riddleport beyond the events detailed in the adventure, they'll probably gravitate toward one area or another which will tell you what they're interested in you developing further.
