Hey all! I am new to these boards but was told by a friend that you might be interested in the contest I'm holding.
When I was twelve years old, my friend Jeff introduced me to D&D with the boxed set adventure Escape from Zanzer's Dungeon, which at the time was already outdated. It was still awesome, though, and still sucked me into the entire subculture of tabletop roleplaying with a skill I've rarely seen in starter adventures since.
Because of this and a dozen other little pushes in the right direction, next October myself and five of my best adventuring companions are going to be going on a 500-mile journey through Ireland and Scotland in an effort to raise money for cancer research worldwide. We are going to be doing it as an adventuring party, in costume and using medieval gear like waxed canvas tents, cloaks and traditional foods instead of lightweight aluminum pole contraptions, rain jackets and freeze-dried everything.
We have a very large goal in mind, and need your help - and the help of everyone you know who has ever fought a goblin, in-game or in glorious metaphorical form - to reach it. Cancer is no wyrmling dragon asking to be slain, and we all need to do our parts with sword, spear or pen.
Our adventuring party is called the Wayfarers, and we are offering two $40 Amazon gift certificates (enough to buy a new D&D book, by our logic) to the winning entry from each of the following contests:
Pen our quippy one-liner. We are looking for something short enough to fit on a business card and all of our posters, something that will catch peoples' eye, stay in their mind, and appeal both to nerds and to people who have never given dice a chance. The top prize will be one of the $40 Amazon gift certificates, and the first runner up will receive a Wayfarers t-shirt with your catch phrase on it.
Design us a poster, banner ad, t-shirt design or some other sort of graphic advertisement for the Quest. The more people who know about our Quest, the closer we will get to our goal - and as well all know, pictures speak to the masses a lot more easily than do words. The top prize for this, as for the catch phrase, will be one of the $40 Amazon gift certificates, with the first runner up getting a Wayfarers t-shirt - with your design on it, if we can make that work.
Entries can be sent to contest@wayfarerquest.com, and all entries sent that way agree that we are able to use the design or quip in any and all Wayfarers-related endeavours from here on out. We will be accepting entries until 11:59pm EST on Sunday, December 18th, and the contest winners will be announced and contacted by the 21st at the latest.
