I hope this isnt a violation of terms but the following contains no sexual content, its a parody. Sorry if it is, feel free to remove if so. The humor may be a bit dark so if thats not your thing then I suggest not reading any further.

My boyfriend and I want to create a silly campaign based around something we would like to parody in the BDSM and Hentai community.

Goreans and over the top hyper annoying anime women.

The entire campaign setting would be one based on sex, but never actually getting sexual due to the difficult personalities of the wacko NPC's. It is meant to be played online.

A lot of the NPCs would act like they have a certain fetish, then when the players become interested something horrible happens and it prevents said act from happening.

DM:"A room full of beautiful women motion for you to enter the room."

PC:"I enter and unsheathe my sword"

DM:"Rocks fall, errrrrrrbody dies."

But a little more creative and funny. (Beautiful woman of the waterfall slips and cracks her skull on a rock right before she leads the PC to her pleasure den.)

The point is to entertain ourselves and see how the PCs react to getting their dreams crushed over and over again.

My questions.

What do you think about this?

Too dark?

Not really interesting?

Will it be funny to the PCs after a while or will it make them angry to the point that they quit?

Who would want to read the campaign logs?

Sczarni RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

This could work. Here is how I would do it.

- Let the players know this is a parody game and then stick to it. Being consistent will help you in the long term game, and keep your players from freaking out.

- You can keep your players hopes up by telling them that it is possible for them to score, but that it will be very hard to do so. Give them a reason for it that makes sense for the game. For example, maybe the gods have cursed the PCs to never have sex, and that they need to break the curse in some humorous way.

- Don't rely on Dues Ex Machina at all if you can help it. Make the random events make sense. The rocks fall everyone dies falls under dues ex machina. However, building up to the moment or second base and than having ninjas burst into the scene, or having the girl start doing really odd things would work well.

- Don't make the fetishes clear until the last moment, and make them as bizarre as possible.

- There are a couple of cleavage based archetypes in the Off-topic forums. Something about National Cleavage day in South Africa. You could do a search for Oracle of Lust to find them. The oracle can do things like cause people to take bleed damage from bloody noses. Having NPCs that cause conditions and damage to the PCs when things get hot and heavy would really mess around with the players. It would also be something that most players find acceptable.

Not necessarily angry, but probably quite bored. Imagine if someone tells you a joke 20 times for one week - no matter how good the joke is, will you still be laughing after the 20th time? Now, maybe they like parody as well, but chances are their patience will wear thin eventually. Eventually your players will probably start rolling their eyes, say they'll pass until they get to the fun parts, or do something equally stupid like murdering the seductresses for no reason. Hey, they'll be perfectly right. You didn't take this seriously, so why should they bother?

See, if you always pull the bait before the PCs can bite, at some point they will wizen up or just get bored with it. After all, the presumption is that a RPG is going to be fun for everyone. They are giving you their time and effort (or at least some); if you don't make it worth their while you are not holding up your end of the deal.Unless you have reason to believe the PCs like that kind of pseudo-parody, either use it sparingly or let them get the tail they've been chasing for so long. Heck, if you want to do it, go all the way - award them a trait or two, maybe a pseudo-feat for their accomplishments. Players like recognition (or possibly rewards), especially after they put in a long time mucking about and indulging your taste for fun.

Grand Lodge

It's like Paranoia. It gives you a fun change of pace if you play it every once in a while, but it isn't conducive to a long term campaign. If I were going to do it, I think I would shoot for a seasonal game - Halloween, Valentine's Day, May Day and maybe one other.

Sadie Hawkins Day?

Dark Archive

Puts me in mind of the Leisure Suit Larry games, specifically Magna Cum Laude. Every time Larry is about to get the girl, after having gone through so much, something comes along and ruins it, whether it is some unknown fetish/weirdness of the girl herself, a maniacal father, or just some random bad luck event that screws things up.

The thing that makes these games funny, though, is not the above. That scenario would be funny a few times, at most, before it got old. What amused me throughout the games are the constant jokes, dirty or otherwise, social commentary, etc. In other words, if you do this campaign I would strongly urge you to make sure you are throwing the jokes and parody at them from all angles, not just the "Oh, you got *rooster*blocked again! Isn't that funny?" routine.

The Exchange

or turn the players loose as the "over the top hyper annoying anime women" - or at least some of the "targets", but point out to them that they become NPCs and fade out of the campaign if their actions drift over a certain line. You might even end up with someone doing a parody of Barbarilla (spelled wrong) or some other classic.

You could even divide the campaign into Chasers and Chased.

R Talsorian's Teenagers From Outer Space had a bunch of stuff with the trope about teeneagers never quite able to have sex and the ways for a GM to make that work.

And TFOS pretty much IS an Anime Game, with a lot of silly stuff that might work for you.

(Of course, their idea that Sex can't be funny is wayyyyy off base. Sex can be very funny if its done right...)

But seriously, check out the rules in TFOS, should help you here.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for the advice/tips. If I ever get a party together, I shall post the logs somewhere and link you guys if you would fancy an amusing read.
