Question about the Devil We know Parts 3&4?

Grand Lodge 5/5

I have some players that have not played part 3 of the Devil we know series and this coming week we are running part 4. Can they still play it?? If so then they can't play part 3 ever for that character?? or Can they??

Can I get an official statement on how as a coordinator I should handle this? We run a weekly event and have about 10-20 players a week playing and some come once every other week... so I am curious and need to know how and what I should do for players that have played parts 2, and want to still do part 4? Any maybe even later play part 3 & 1?

Thanks!!

-P.S I kind of need an answer as soon as possible? :)

These scenarios do not need to be played in order, but players who do them out of order should be cautioned not to spoil anything if they've already played Part 4. They could play a different character in every Part if they wanted, or just use the same one. As far as I know NO scenario series must be played in sequence. It just diminishes the flavor experience.

I thought that part 4 was the only one that did explicitly say that players must have played the past 3 (although, the way it's written, it shouldn't be an issue if they play part 4 without part 3)

The scenarios do in fact say that you cannot play parts 3 and 4 out of order.

The final two installments, this scenario and #48: Rules of the Swift, have to be played sequentially and can only be played once a PC has completed #29 and #30.

However, this was also over turned by Josh in a messageboard post in favor of getting players to the table.

This whole thing was brought up by Doug a long time ago in a thread regarding Crypt of Fools (TDWK part 3). If your character would die in part 3, you couldn't have another character play the fourth part. Around those times there weren't any replay rules as I understand it.

This is going to be a total shock to people... but yeah, I ignore that..
