So I started a campaign and used the Price of Immortality mini campaign to start it off. Players just finished the City of Golden Death last night, and i intend to continue to campaign, however, they have fully made it clear they intend to trick the Jewel of Everlasting Gold into thinking they are the Tyrant himself. They left the city, but have put an Aracane Mark on the Room of the Jewel and on the Jewel itself, as hopes to be able to easily come back. We agreed I would come up with a set of rules on what safeguards the Tyrant has put on to keep this jewel and all the wealth of the world from being prevented from leaving the bounds of the city. I also want to know what safeguards he may have put in to prevent people from just telaporting into the city, and why the key itself has to be used. The guy who arcane marked the spot knows most game rules in an out.... so we agreed to make this fair within the bounds of the rules, though as i have set the Tyrant as a lv 30 caster in this world and they know it, I can do everything from the Artifact is only useable by one who has the Tyrants body, soul and life force, yet even that can in truth be tricked by Use Magic Device. We all know how devious players can be, so if anyone can come up with as many precautions that the Tyrant came up with, and the semi rules to back them up i would be grateful. THe plan is i will make a list of what he did, and send it to the players encrypted. They then get to try the their plans and verify if they work against the list of magic that he used to make this. The Tyrant was not a god though, and does not have god powers.... so I sadly can not use those as an excuse. Any ideas?
I think you need to define what rule set(books) you are constrained by.
And also not mentioned anywhere but theres a possibility that the phylactery of Tar Baphon is hidden in Xin-Grafar.
Also yes you can do a lot from Use Magic Device but you would need to trick a level 20 necromancer level 10 mythic lich unique spellcaster. If your characters are as high level as that and actually explain what they are doing and how they would do it I would allow it.
