My group (six characters, high stats, experienced players) find even the 6-player conversion a cake-walk. I'm considering upgrading the drake to a full green dragon (CR 8). I was wondering if anyone else had done something similar and what the results were?

I had three experienced players, so I doubled the original drake to a mated pair and tacked on some bonus hit points. You might try another of the 6-player-advanced drakes, or a small pack ("rampage") of the ordinary CR 4 forest drakes working in concert, depending on how fast your typical combat turns run.
