More details on pathfinder iconic characters?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Greetings

I'am looking into the iconic pf characters namely Valeros, Seoni, Krya etc and I'm curious if there's any background on how they companions meet up and why they joined together. Also are there any details on their life whilst adventuring? This is purely background related because I was looking into introducing my Half-elf Pc to the group and want as much info as I can about them.

cheers.

This is kinda difficult, as the various iconics are essentially "Schrodinger's Adventuring Party": any four or five of them could be together from first level, depending on the version of the world they're in.

That said, I subscribe to the hypothesis that the classic "Rise of the Runelords" party -- Valeros, Seoni, Kyra, and Merisiel -- have wound up in a stable, happy polyamorous relationship. :)

(Heck, throw Imrijka in there, fans ship her and Valeros a lot.)

Actually, we've posted biographies for many of these iconics; do a search for "Meet the Iconics" and they'll pop up.

Or just click here, if you want.

As for how they met and their adventuring details... we haven't done that yet.

Dark Archive

met in a tavern prehaps? :P

There are a couple of other things you could check out if you want a little more to read. There's been a lot of fun stuff over the years (mostly thanks to James) that've talked about the iconics as a party.

Way back when the paizo staff did a playtest for Crypt of the Everflame playing as the iconics, each of them posting a journal. It's pretty awesome.

Doesn't stop there, though. There're blog posts like this one (continued in the comments) and the two fantastic "ask merisiel" and "ask kyra" threads down in the off topic section.

And if you're wondering why we're all Merisiel fanboys... well... these are why.

Ah thanks James, This helped alot with understanding the characters and their personalities and I look forward to anything new you have planned in the future for them.

And also thankyou to everyone else for your comments and help.

cheers.

Are those other folks who appear a lot in depictions of classes iconics?

I noticed in Ultimate Combat there was a sort of brutish-looking warrior who I thought appeared a lot. Also the guy in the Inquisitor archetypes (the Asmodean inquisitor), though he didn't appear in other artwork as far as I saw (without really looking for him).

There was a silver haired woman who was (I think) in the Inner Sea Guide that someone said was from one of the Adventure Paths.

Are they considered iconics or just...characters?

I can't speak for all of the art (a lot of it IS just fresh faces. They're pretty important. otherwise poor old Wayne would die of boredom) but I note that many characters from RotR appear in the art. The Rune Giants in the Core Rulebook, the 'silver haired woman' Nualia in inner sea magic and some certain ancient wizards showing up a fair bit. I'm sure some of the other characters from different APs make an appearance, but I couldnt tell you who.

Nualia was picked because, without giving anything away, her backstory makes her a fantastic fit for the class.

Otherwise, just stock art, and lots of fun for stealing character designs from. Hope that helped.

Another thing I'm curious about is are all the iconics members of the pathfinder society? I know most are but what of amiri for instance she's one I can't see getting a place within the society due to her barbaric nature and lifestyle?
