Ultimate Combat - water walk, communal - Why?

I am trying to figure out the point of the water walk, communal spell. The base spell, water walk, already affects multiple targets without dividing the duration. I don't see anything that specifically allows the caster to touch targets on multiple rounds to get around the limit of 6 willing recipients per round - which is already less than the minimum caster level for the communal version of the spell.

My best guess is that someone thought water walk was limited to one target?

Bueller? Bueller?

I'd say that's the most likely reason, the only other one I could possibly think of is if they had something planned to enhance or modify the "communal" line of spells and perhaps it had to be cut last minute or something.

It does seem a bit worthless.

I came across this spell while working on the spells of the Ultimate Combat and was asking myself the same question...

I don't see the point of this (higher level) spell.
Errata material!?

Apparently, someone failed to do his homework and hadn't read the description of the base spell.
Or maybe communal version was intended to have range greater than touch like legion's spells from(IIRC) miniature's handbook.
